Florence Watercolors

Florence Watercolors

Everything about Florence seems to be colored with a mild violet, like diluted wine.

 -Henry James

The Florence Watercolors were inspired by the hints of the 15th century hidden in the reflections in the rain puddles.  It was the largest city in Europe, rich and economically successful. Starting with Cosino de’Medici and then in 1469 with Lorenzo de’Medici  a great patron of the arts, commissioning works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli. Lorenzo came to be known as”Lorenzo the Magnificent” (Lorenzo il Magnifico). Firenze (Florence) is where the Renaissance began and flourished.

The Florence Watercolors

In Paris, you learn wit, in London you learn to crush your social rivals, and in Florence you learn poise.
